Here you will soon find further explanations of the insect diversity on the Devin Peninsula.
Grasshoppers
A survey in 2024 identified 15 species of grasshopper. Five of these species are either on the Red List or the Early Warning List in Germany or Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The most common species are the nightingale grasshopper, white-edged grasshopper, Roesel's grasshopper and meadow grasshopper. Only single individuals of the common oak grasshopper, sabre-thorn grasshopper, field grasshopper and variegated grasshopper were found. Extrapolations from random quantitative surveys indicate a total of around half a million grasshoppers in the entire nature reserve.
The open, sparsely vegetated, dry grassland areas are particularly valuable for grasshoppers.
