Dear Visitors!
Welcome to the website of the ‘Association for the Promotion of Landscape and Nature Conservation Devin e. V.’
The Devin peninsula is located in the south-eastern part of the territory of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund. It can be reached from the B 96 via the district of Devin. You can also get there by bus line 3 (terminus Devin). Due to its varied geomorphology and rich flora and fauna, this landscape is not only one of the most beautiful, but also one of the most ecologically valuable in the city. For this reason, a large part of the peninsula (105.5 hectares) was declared a nature reserve in 1993.
In addition, an application has been made to extend the nature reserve around Lake Devin to create a biotope network. Even on a European scale, the natural features of this area are of particular importance. The peninsula and its neighbouring water areas are part of the planned Europe-wide biotope network ‘Natura 2000’.
The Devin peninsula has become a popular excursion destination since it was opened as a nature reserve in 1993. With its gentle hilly landscape shaped by the Ice Age, it is an inviting place for a walk.
If you are observant, you will spot many a nature observation along the way, be it dragonflies hatching in the reeds or sea swallows and sand martins foraging off the coast. The landscape is particularly attractive when the gorse blossoms at the end of May.
Just a few hundred meters from the visitor parking lot, parallel to the cliffs and the beach, you can take wonderful walks and experience sunsets over Stralsund. The marked circular walk has been designed to include all the views of the peninsula, the Strelasund and the island of Rügen that are worth seeing. In addition, 2 benches at prominent places invite you to linger
Despite all the fun, please remember that you are in a protected area. Do not leave any garbage behind, do not light any fires and use the designated paths.
As a support organisation, it is very important to us to bring the beauty and importance of the Devin Peninsula nature reserve closer to all interested parties.
To this end, we regularly offer guided walks on the Devin Peninsula. We provide information about the history of the peninsula, flora and fauna, nature conservation and special features.
This year we are once again offering a range of different guided tours of the Devin Peninsula. You can find the dates here.
